§ Mr. AncramThe Government's declared aim is to achieve peace, prosperity and reconciliation in Northern Ireland by pursuing a range of complementary policies, including the search for a comprehensive political settlement which can command widespread support. This has been and will continue to be the Government's policy, irrespective of the level of IRA activity.
