§ Mr. Ian TaylorA prime aim of our policy is to develop the science and engineering base to enhance the skills levels, industrial competitiveness, wealth creation and the quality of life.
The Government will continue to invest in training and basic and strategic research. Allocation of funds is influenced by the foresight process. We are stimulating greater interest by industry in the strength of the science base.
