HC Deb 05 November 1996 vol 284 cc468-9W
Mr. Home Robertson

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the progress of the investigations by (a) the police and (b) the Scottish Charities Office into the affairs of the Algrade trust and the application of public and other funds by that trust. [2135]

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The police inquiries are continuing. The case against Robert Herriott has been reported by the procurator fiscal and is being considered by Crown counsel. The accounts of the Algrade trust have been completed by the accountants. Some further minor inquiries require to be done by the investigators at the Crown office, after which a decision will be made on whether any action is appropriate under the supervision of charities legislation.
