Mr. Richards

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list for each local education authority the local management of schools criteria which determine what is a large secondary school. [2019]

Mr. Jonathan Evans

I am not aware of any local authority's local management of schools scheme which incorporates a definition of a large secondary school. As far as Welsh Office guidance is concerned, the LMS framework as set out in Welsh Office circulars 36/88 and 38/91 provided a definition of a small school for salary protection purposes only but no such definition was included for large schools.
