To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what was(a) the total sum, (b) the amount paid to the City of Nottingham, (c) the percentage of the total paid to the City of Nottingham and (d) the amount paid per dwelling in the City of Nottingham, in transitional relief in respect of council tax in each year from 1993–94 to 1995–96.     • 1993–94: £378,652,826

  2. (b) Amount of transitional relief paid to Nottingham city council
    • 1993–94: £692,040
    • 1994–95: £173,218

  3. (c) Percentage of total amount of transitional relief paid to Nottingham city council
    • 1993–94: 1.8 per cent.
    • 1994–95: 1.5 per cent.

These figures are averages. The actual amount of transitional relief varied according to a household's council tax banding, its composition and its previous liability for community charge. 1 Information for 1995–96 is provisional and is subject to final grant claims to be made during 1996–97.
