§ Mr. Harry GreenwayTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the average amount of recent tax reductions to the individual taxpayer(a) for the month of April and (b) for the coming financial year; and if he will make a statement. [28649]
§ Mr. Jack[holding answer 16 May 1996]: On average, taxpayers will pay more than £13 less income tax in April' and £190 less income tax in 1996–97.
1The figure for April is less than one twelfth of the annual figure because tax cuts come into effect only on 5 April 1996.
