HC Deb 16 May 1996 vol 277 c544W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what representations his Department has received concerning the need for an integrated transport study of the M4 corridor; and if he will make a statement. [27922]

Mr. Gwilym Jones

The Welsh Office has received several representations in response to the public consultation on the M4 relief road—Major to Castleton—proposals.

Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what plans his Department has to undertake an integrated transport study of the M4 corridor; and if he will make a statement. [27899]

Mr. Jones

My right hon. Friend and I have no plans but the development of proposals for the M4 relief road will include an assessment of alternative transport modes.

Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales when his Department plans to publish a draft order concerning the M4 relief road; and if he will make a statement. [27898]

Mr. Jones

It will be several years before the necessary work has been done to identify the scheme details and prepare draft orders.
