To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the total number of(a) male and (b) female primary and secondary school teachers; and how many (i) male and (ii) female headteachers there are in each sector in Wales. [28709]

The information requested is contained in the following table. The number of qualified teachers—full and part time—and headteachers is shown as at January 1995, for local education authority-maintained and grant-maintained schools.
