To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many private patients were treated in(a) NHS pay beds and (b) independent sector beds for (i) all acute conditions excluding maternity care, (ii) maternity care, (iii) cataract surgery, (iv) hip replacement surgery and (v) heart surgery in 1989–90 and each year since then.
