§ Mr. GunnellTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what was the revenue received by British Rail for the use of its facilities for the provision of services provided by(a) West Yorkshire PTE and (b) South Yorkshire PTE in 1993–94, 1994–95 and 1995–96; and what each of those bodies will pay Railtrack in 1996–97. [26513]
§ Mr. Watts[holding answer 2 May 1996]: The figures, which are set out in the table, represent BR's charges for PTE-secured rail services in PTE passenger transport areas net of ticket receipts. BR deducts the revenue from ticket sales in determining the net charges that BR makes to the PTEs. The 1993–94 figures reflect the accounting treatment applicable for that year, when the PTEs were charged only on a marginal cost basis. The figures for 1994–95 and 1995–96 reflect the full costs of rail support, including access charges and rolling stock leasing charges.
