HC Deb 15 May 1996 vol 277 c509W
Mr. Corbett

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what further research is being carried out to establish whether bovine TB in cattle is infective at any stage of the disease in the absence of gross visible lesion tubercles. [29261]

Mrs. Browning

[holding answer 14 May 1996]: None in this country at present.

Mr. Corbett

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list by county the number of dairy herds which reported outbreaks of bovine TB in 1995, or the latest year for which figures are available, the approximate number of cases in each herd, and whether each was a first or repeat outbreak. [29262]

Mrs. Browning

[holding answer 14 May 1996]: The information is not available in the form requested and could be provided only at disproportionate cost. However, there were 446 new confirmed herd breakdowns in Great Britain in 1995. The approximate number of cases in each herd is four.
