Mr. Alex Carlile

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much money in real terms(a) overall and (b) specifically for mileage reimbursement has been allocated to local government for the fire service in each area of England and Wales in each of the last 10 years; and if he will make a statement. [holding answer 9 May 1996]: The amount allocated for mileage reimbursement from within budgets is a matter for each fire authority. Details are not held centrally. Information of the overall financial provision for individual brigades is not available in the form requested and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what percentage of the revenue budget for each fire service authority is used to meet pension costs; and if he will make a statement. [28249]
