HC Deb 10 May 1996 vol 277 c289W
Mr. Clifton-Brown

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what treaty changes the Government are proposing to the current intergovernmental conference to combat fraud and financial mismanagement of EU funds. [27191]

Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

[holding answer 8 May 1996]: As stated in "A partnership of Nations", the Government made significant progress at Maastricht in obtaining treaty changes to combat fraud and improving financial management. The Government believe that the Community should make better use of the existing provisions, but would naturally support any effective proposals to strengthen these.
