HC Deb 09 May 1996 vol 277 cc192-3W
Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many written representations have been received by him in respect of the Port of Tyne Authority scheme 1996; and of these how many expressed(a) opposition to and (b) support for the proposed privatisation of the port of Tyne; and if he will place copies of the representations in the Library. [28310]

Mr. Norris

A total of 134 written representations have been received in respect of the proposed privatisation of the Port of Tyne Authority. Three were in favour, one was purely technical and did not express a view, and 130 were opposed.

The Port of Tyne Authority's notice concerning representations did not suggest that they would be made available other than to the Secretary of State, the authority, and its parliamentary agents, and they are therefore not being otherwise released.
