HC Deb 08 May 1996 vol 277 cc179-80W
Mr. Win Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the voluntary organisations and non-departmental public bodies that have received funding from the Welsh Office in the last five years, indicating how often each has been subject to specific reviews by the Welsh Office, including those for which reviews are currently being proposed. [27395]

Mr. Gwilym Jones

All executive public bodies that have received Welsh Office funding in the last five years are listed in "Public Bodies 1995", a copy of which is available in the Library of the House.

The Welsh Office carries out a financial management and policy review of each executive public body at least every five years.

Reviews are currently proposed of the Welsh Development Agency, the Development Board for Rural Wales and the Land Authority for Wales.

I have arranged for lists of the voluntary organisations that have directly received funding from the Welsh Office for each of the years 1990–91 to 1994–95 to be placed in the Library of the House. An exercise to collate a comprehensive list of all voluntary organisations that have received funding in 1995–96 is currently being undertaken.

The Welsh Office has carried out reviews of the following grant schemes under which voluntary organisations have received funding during the last five years:

Scheme Year
Care and Repair grants 1993–94
Child and Family Service 1995–96
Environment Wales 1995–96
Section 73 Homelessness grants 1990–91
Special Grants Environmental Programme 1990–91
Support for Voluntary Intermediary Services 1995–96
Groundwork Trusts 1995–96
UK2000 1990–91
Voluntary Youth Services, Village Halls and Community Centres Programme 1994–95
Welsh Archaeological Trusts 1995–96

In addition, the following individual organisations have been reviewed by the Welsh Office:

Organisation Year
Standing Council of Voluntary Organisations 1991–92
South Wales Association for the Prevention of Addiction 1991–92
Swansea Drugs Project 1990–91
Youthlink 1993–94
