To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on his recent visit to the middle east. [26940]

My right hon. Friend's visit to Israel was made in response to a long-standing invitation. The visit provided the opportunity for discussions on a range of issues, including bilateral defence relations. My right hon. Friend was also able to stress the Government's determination to see a diplomatic solution to the Lebanon crisis and a speedy return to the peace process.
