HC Deb 07 May 1996 vol 277 cc31-2W
Mr. Chris Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment his Department has made of the advantage of voluntary sector participation in Government-funded targeted HIV and AIDS health promotion work. [27873]

Mr. Horam

The Government's HIV/AIDS health promotion strategy', published in November 1995, recognises that targeted HIV health promotion work for vulnerable groups, such as gay men, may often he better undertaken by community-based and self help voluntary groups than by the Government or their agencies. We are therefore exploring the scope for greater voluntary sector involvement with targeted campaigns.
