§ Mrs. Angela KnightThe four criteria for economic and monetary convergence mentioned in article 109(j) of the EC treaty, and developed further in protocol No. 6 on the convergence criteria, do not prescribe legal obligations. The United Kingdom is under no treaty or other obligations to attain the criteria.
