§ Mr. Alfred MorrisTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment he has made of the compliance of the Government's policy towards the treatment of critically ill children with the provisions of the United Nations convention on the rights of the child. [22493]
§ Mr. BowisIn our report to the United Nations committee on the rights of the child, HMSO 1994, we noted that advances in medical science offer new opportunities in the acute care of children. We accept the evidence that critically ill children are best treated in dedicated paediatric intensive care units, and on 6 March my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health announced that he had asked for a report by the end of April on the implementation of plans for the development of paediatric intensive care.
