HC Deb 27 March 1996 vol 274 c594W
Mr. Donohoe

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how much British Rail and its successor bodies have spent on the painting of the Forth rail bridge in each of the last four financial years, and in the current financial year; and what changes have occurred in the method used for painting the bridge. [22843]

Mr. Watts

On the question of costs, I refer the hon. Member to my answer of 22 November 1995, column150.

I understand that the painting methodology changed in the early 1980s when British Rail began moving from a short-term cycle of repainting to a long-term cycle.
