To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list those of his Department's advisory non-departmental public bodies which(a) the Government are required to consult prior to legislative proposals and (b) the Government are required to publish their response to advice supplied by them. [holding answer 21 March 1996]: Following are the answers for the Department of Transport's only advisory NDPB—the Disabled Person's Transport Advisory Committee.

  1. (a) The Government are required to consult DPTAC in advance of making certain regulations under part V of the Disability Discrimination Act.
  2. (b) The Government are not required to publish its response to DPTAC's advice.
