§ Mr. Gwilym JonesUnitary authorities are responsible for funding fire authorities' revenue expenditure from their unhypothecated resources. The local government revenue settlement for 1996–97 was approved by the House of Commons on 8 February. Funding of fire authorities' capital expenditure is a matter for my right hon. and learned Friend the Home Secretary.
