To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many local education authority maintained schools fall into each of the schoolteachers' pay and conditions groups 1 to 6; and in each case how many of the head teachers' salaries fall into each pay spine point in the scale in the last year for which figures are available. The following table shows the head teachers, in the local education authority maintained nursery, primary and secondary sector in England and Wales, identified in the Teachers Pensions Agency database of teachers, records on a spine point of at least the minimum for the appropriate school group.
