To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what action has been recently taken to provide support for teachers and school governors in Wales. [19395]

Mr. Richards

As part of the "Bright Future" programme in Wales the grant for education support and training-GEST-arrangements provide support and training for teachers and school governors. Taking all elements into account, the GEST programme will be worth £24.7 million in 1996–97.
