§ Sir Paul BeresfordThe Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 applies to recreation grounds where there is employment. Risks at recreation grounds are generally low, and inspection levels reflect this. Health and safety inspectors respond to any serious incident and follow up complaints. Sports grounds are regulated under the Safety at Sports Grounds Act 1975 on which there is guidance from the Department of National Heritage. DNH has also published guidance on playground safety.
