To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what was the total money allocated to Wales under the objective 2 programme in(a) 1994 and (b) 1995; and if he will make a statement. [18610]

Mr. Gwilym Jones

The amounts allocated in the objective 2 industrial south Wales single programme document 1994–95 are:

  1. (a) 1994: 59.76 mecu
  2. (b) 1995: 62.32 mecu

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how much he estimates will be allocated to Wales in 1996 under the objective 2 programme; and if he will make a statement. [18606]

Mr. Jones

The amount allocated for 1996 in the objective 2 industrial south Wales single programme document 1994 to 1996 is 65.92 mecu. Our intention is to commit to projects all the programmes available grant resources by the end of 1996.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how much the county of Mid Glamorgan received in(a) 1994 and (b) 1995 from the objective 2 programme; how much it will receive in 1996; and if he will make a statement. [18605]

Mr. Jones

Payments to projects in the county of Mid Glamorgan under previous industrial south Wales objective 2 programmes were as follows:(a) £9.3 million in 1994; and (b) £4.4 million in 1995. Payments made to date under the 1994 to 1996 programme will register in 1996.

It is not possible to quantify how much will be received by the county of Mid Glamorgan in 1996 since this is dependent on future approvals under the latest programme and sponsors submitting claims for grant to the Welsh Office on time.
