To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the income from the tax on waste to landfill sites in(a) 1996–97 and (b) 1997-–98; and if he will make a statement. [17641]

The landfill tax is expected to raise £110 million in 1996–97 and £450 million in 1997–98.
