309W
§ Mr. NorrisNo records are kept for UK airports of the extent of unscheduled take-offs or landings, that is, for which no slot has been obtained in advance. However, an assessment for Heathrow during June 1995 found an average of five unscheduled departures each weekday, in addition to opportunity slots obtained by business and general aviation. Most of the unscheduled movements operated by commercial airlines are maintenance, positioning or testing flights; only a minority, such as diversions from other airports, are passenger carrying.
