To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to his answer of 15 February,Official Report, column 670, when he expects to be able to make a precise judgment on the impact of a single European currency on the United Kingdom economy. [1671]

[holding answer 28 February 1996]: The United Kingdom will agree to take part in a single currency only if it is in our national interest to do so, given the circumstances at the time. A full assessment will be carried out nearer the time, before the decision is made.
