To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will examine the circumstances surrounding the decision by Taff Ely district council to proceed with a planning application to develop private housing on a greenfield site at Gelliwion, next to a listed site of special scientific interest, in Pontypridd. [18366]

My right hon. Friend has received requests to call in this planning application for his own determination. After careful consideration he has issued an article 14 direction. This prevents the local planning authority from granting planning permission, but does not prevent it continuing to process the application, or refusing planning permission. I will ensure that the hon. Member is informed of the final decision on call-in.
