§ Mr. David DavisThe term of employment applying to the present governor, and to others employed in the Hong Kong Government on contract terms including the governor's predecessors, provide for him to receive, upon the completion of the period of his appointment in Hong Kong, a gratuity of 25 per cent. of his total basic salary in lieu of pension. The governor's gratuity would be paid by the Hong Kong Government and would not be subject to tax.
