§ Mrs. Angela KnightA marriage certificate is a copy of an entry in a marriage register. The form and content of a marriage entry is prescribed by the Registration of Marriages Regulations 1986. These were made by the Registrar General with the approval of the responsible Minister. With the creation on 1 April of the Office for National Statistics, Treasury Ministers approve all regulations made under the Marriage Acts.
