§ The Attorney-GeneralIn 1995, 77 cases were referred to the Court of Appeal in England and Wales and four in Northern Ireland. Three were subsequently withdrawn in England and Wales. To date, 64 of those cases have been heard by the Court of Appeal. Sentence was increased in 58 cases out of 64 or 91 per cent.
