The PFI is being actively explored in the sense that proposals from the private sector have been invited under open competition for the projects set out. These schemes are all listed in the recently published document "Public Services and Private Finance: A Partnership for Scotland"—the Scottish Office, June 1996—which is available in the Library of the House.

Each of these involves the provision of certain services, capital investment by the private sector and risk transfer to that sector, in line with the private finance initiative. The schemes listed are:
