§ Mr. NorrisInitial assessment of critical operational systems has produced estimates of around 5,000 date tests needing modification. Assessment of necessary work is the subject of further detailed studies and will form the basis of cost negotiations with contractors. Replacement may obviate modification in some cases. Urgent changes have been made. Many of the Department's operational service and management systems will be replaced by the end of the century and are not being assessed. Studies are planned to cover all other systems in the Department.
