§ Sir Paul BeresfordLatest available figures from the November 1995 survey by the Local Government Management Board show that the private sector held 25 per cent. of contracts, by value, tendered by local authorities under the Local Government Act 1988. The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy figures for 1994–95 for work tendered under the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 show the private sector holding 56 per cent. of contracts, by value.
