§ Mr. ClappisonThe Department has issued two formal directions under the Water Industry Act 1991 to all water and sewerage companies whereby they are required to formulate plans to provide an essential water supply at all times and notify the relevant local authority and district health authority during water supply emergencies. The arrangements made by water companies under these provisions cover supplies to all the affected householders, with particular emphasis on providing for vulnerable members of the community, including those with mobility problems.
