To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) how many cases investigated by the revenue adjudicator in each year since 1993 have been settled; and if he will make a statement; [29601]

(2) how many complaints in each year since May 1993, have been fully investigated by the revenue adjudicator; and if he will make a statement. [29605]

The following table shows the number of full investigations of complaints about the Inland Revenue which the adjudicator completed in the three years to 31 March 1996:

On 31 March 1996, the adjudicator had 301 complaints under full investigation.
