To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the total cost to date of the resource management initiative. [31049]

The total cost is not possible to ascertain since boundaries between the programme and normal local developments in information technology and clinical management would be impossible to define precisely and therefore to cost.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what evaluation is being undertaken of the resource management initiative. [31050]

§ Mr. Malone
An independent evaluation of the resource management programme in England was commissioned by the national health service executive from a consortium led by the health services management unit.
