To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what recent research she has(a) commissioned and (b) evaluated regarding the educational attainments of ethnic minorities. [30448]

Mrs. Gillan

The Secretary of State has commissioned research studies which provide data on educational qualifications and labour market experiences of ethnic minority groups. These are:

  1. (i) The youth cohort study.
  2. The fourth national survey of ethnic minorities.

This and other relevant research brought to the Department's attention is reviewed as results become available.
