HC Deb 24 July 1996 vol 282 c375W
Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list the action his Department has taken for each of the recommendations made in (i) the Transport Committee's first report of Session 1994–95, on the future of the Coastguard Service (HC89) and (ii) the Transport Committee's first report of Session 1993–94 on the provision of search and rescue services (HC95). [39373]

Mr. Bowis

(i) The report made no specific recommendations.

(ii) An interdepartmental review group was set up in July 1995 to examine the national requirement for search and rescue helicopters. The group has submitted its report and a copy has been placed in the Library. A formal consultation was undertaken on the conclusions of the report and on the future locations of search and rescue helicopters on the south coast. We are currently considering the results of that consultation.
