HC Deb 24 July 1996 vol 282 cc500-1W
Mr. Milburn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what information the national health service litigation authority has compiled or is compiling on medical negligence cases and claims. [37332]

Mr. Horam

The national health service litigation authority compiles such information as it deems to be necessary to carry out its delegated functions.

Mr. Milburn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will publish a list of trusts in each region which(a) have and (b) have not subscribed to the clinical negligence scheme for trusts, indicating the cost of each annual premium. [37331]

Mr. Horam

An updated list of members and non-members of the clinical negligence scheme for trusts will be placed in the Library. The scheme is voluntary and is open to all national health service trusts in England. The clinical negligence scheme for trusts represents a pooling arrangement between trusts which is in its first year of operation. Until the scheme has had an opportunity to mature it would not be appropriate to give details of the contribution of individual trusts.

Mr. Milburn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his answer of 4 December,Official Report, column 44, if he will publish the latest information on clinical negligence claims settled by individual trusts. [37442]

Mr. Horam

I will write to the hon. Member.
