To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many fatalities have occurred at railway level crossings during each of the last five years(a) on the west coast main line and (b) on the national railway network; and what action he is taking to prevent further fatalities. [38231]

Information on fatalities that have occurred at level crossings on the west coast main line is only available at disproportionate cost. Fatalities on the national railway network from 1990 to 1994–95 are as listed.
