HC Deb 24 July 1996 vol 282 cc524-5W
Mr. Key

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what monitoring is in place to ensure that HIV prevention money is being targeted at those communities most affected throughout the United Kingdom. [38312]

Mr. Horam

In England monitoring of health authorities' HIV prevention funding is carried out by means of half-yearly reports on planned expenditure, with an outturn report at the end of the financial year for inclusion in each health authority's AIDS (Control) Act Report.

Guidance was issued to health authorities in March advising them of the need to allocate approximately 50 per cent. of the funds they receive for HIV prevention towards work with those populations most at risk from HIV.
