HC Deb 24 July 1996 vol 282 cc520-1W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what business case and option appraisal was carried out prior to the decision to commence the new health authority programme; and what is the estimated outturn cost of the new health authority programme. [39772]

Mr. Horam

Family Health Systems supplies the software to which modifications are needed in order for existing family health services authority based databases to operate effectively within new health authority boundaries. This work can be carried out only by the supplier; therefore no business case is required. The maximum estimated cost of this work is £1.4 million.

Modifications to the national health service central register will be needed in order for it to handle realigned databases. This work has yet to commence but a preliminary estimate of costs is that £300,000 will be required. The project initiation process will include more detailed consideration of costs and options.
