What further instructions they have issued to the Franchising Director.

My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Transport has today written to the Franchising Director instructing him under Section 5 of the Railways Act 1993 to take into account any government policies which are relevant to the provision of passenger services in so far as they affect, or may be affected by, the fulfilment of his objectives. A copy of the letter has been placed in the Library of the House.
