HC Deb 24 July 1996 vol 282 cc481-2W
Ms Glenda Jackson

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will list the number of traffic violations involving departmental vehicles, the nature of the violations, and the total amount of fines arising from those violations, in each year since 1986. [39300]

Mr. John M. Taylor

Any driver of a DTI vehicle is personally accountable for any traffic violations when in charge of the vehicle and for any costs incurred as a result. The Department's records are, therefore, very limited. We are aware of three tickets for speeding between 1990 and 1994 and six parking tickets between 1993 and 1996. We do not know the amount of the fines that were paid.

The vehicles currently owned by the Department are not used and are in the process of being sold. There is no intention to replace them.
