Mr. Hanson

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the countries that have banned imports of British beef in each year since 1980. [32190]

Mrs. Browning

Commission decision 96/239/EEC of 27 March 1996 provided that the UK shall not export from its territory, meat and meat products obtained from bovine animals in the UK. The list of countries given shows those with a ban on the import of British beef on the day before the introduction of the Commission decision. The month and year when the bans commenced are shown where available.
