1. The analysis is based on a 1 in 20 sample of all prescriptions submitted to the Prescription Pricing Authority by community pharmacists and appliances contractors. Dispensing doctor and personal administration prescriptions are not analysed into exempt, non-exempt or other categories.

2. 1979 to 1990 data is based on fees and covers prescriptions dispensed by community pharmacists and applicance contractors only.

3 1991 to 1994 data (new PCA) are based on items and have the same coverage as in note 1 above.
