HC Deb 23 July 1996 vol 282 c230W
Ms Roseanna Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to update the Conveyancing (Scotland) Act 1874; and if he will make a statement. [38858]

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The provisions of the Conveyancing (Scotland) Act 1874 are amended from time to time. Further amendment may be required in the light of the Scottish Law Commission's work on the abolition of the feudal system. The Government are committed to completing the reform of the feudal system and will give careful consideration to further action in this area once the commission's report and recommendations have been received.
